Achievements

  • Farmers Groups have been formed in 21 Gram Panchayats in block Dewa, Fatehpur, Ramnagar, Banki and Masauli blocks  of Barabanki district. These groups have been oriented on organic and improved techniques of farming. In turn these groups have taken initiative to orient other farmers of their villages.
  • Prasar is intensively engaged in promoting use of organic farming  inputs in agriculture. Meetings and discussions are being regularly held with farming communities of project villages during field visits of other projects also. Whenever needed, handholding support is also provided to progressive farmers and initiatives undertaken to develop their capacities and provide agriculture related information.
  • Training has also been imparted to Farmers Clubs on organic farming. Waste decomposers are being prepared and used. Needed support has also been provided to members of farmer clubs for the same.
  • Farmers have been trained in preparation of ‘Shivansh Khad’, compost manure preparation method that takes lesser time (only 18 days) with respect to other methods such as NADEP, etc., which take much longer time in preparation which acts as a deterrent for many farmers to adopt the practice. This is a step towards making the farmers self-reliant as the compost can be made by readily available materials with farmers and has helped in increasing their incomes by reducing dependence on chemical fertilisers.
  • Training and support have also been provided to families in the on-going project villages to develop kitchen gardens keeping in mind their nutritional requirements. This on one hand enhances their self-reliance and helps them meet nutritional requirements of the family.
  • Prasar has formed 137 Community Based Organisations (CBOs) having 1644 members under its PACS Programme. The project was implemented in block Rampur Sangramgarh in district Pratapgarh during the year 2011-15. These CBOs consist of 24 health improvement groups, 49 women self-help groups, 59 women groups and 5 children groups. These groups are aimed at creating awareness regarding government health programme and schemes, promote saving and credit activities among the group members and undertake income generation activities.
